I need to do two posts about the IN! Magazine Glamour Awards as there’s too much for one – serious photo overkill going on! Part 1 is all about the outfit and the getting ready and I’ll follow it up tomorrow with one from the night itself.
So I’m sure I’ve bored you sufficiently about the dress dramas on this last post. Right in the middle of my trying on panic, I was contacted by Gray & Osbourn, a company I’ve worked for before (remember this fabulous camel coat?). It turns out that G&O have some formal gowns in their collection and guess what? They wanted to gift me one to wear to the event! This excited me greatly but it also scared me. What if the dress wasn’t suitable? What if it arrived only days before the event and didn’t work? It left me with very little time to get something else. While I waited for the dress to arrived, I continued panicking – it’s what I do best ☺
But I had nothing to worry about. I had one of those moments when you put something on and it’s absolute perfection in every way. It fitted, it covered all the bits I wanted covered, it looked stunning on and it ticked the dress code box exactly – Old Hollywood Glamour big style! Phew!
Gina Bacconi Sequin Maxi Dress – Gray & Osbourn
So then there were all the bits and pieces to put together around the dress, clutch, shoes, jewellery, hair and makeup. Castlecourt Belfast came to the rescue with the shoes and clutch. I picked up these beauties in the shoe sale at Debenhams. They are so comfortable thanks to the softest leather lining and the straps meant that they would be secure on my feet. I wasn’t keen on the pewter roses but they were removable with just the snip of a scissors! I love that they are so versatile now and will get lots of wear.
The clutch had to be blingy and it came from Dorothy Perkins, also in Castlecourt, along with some sparkly jewellery.
Hair and Make-Up came from two fairy godmothers, Gemma Managh & Lynne Givan.
Gemma gets to grip with all that hair – make-up is partially done here…still lots of colour to be added!
Lynne adds the red lippy!
Love this photo of the pin curls in place
Lynne owns Effortless Beauty in Moira and contacted me way back when I was first nominated, offering hers and Gemma’s services. They are the most wonderful double act I’ve ever come across. I got hair, make up and pure craic for an hour and a half (apparently they can do it in an hour if they don’t talk!).
If you are local and have a special event coming up, you couldn’t be in better hands. I loved being able to sit in a private room with my car parked outside and have everything done. Lynne uses Senna mineral make- up and the HD makeup is guaranteed for hours and hours – perfect for a long night out!
Armed with my touching up kit of mineral highlighter, blusher and the Venetian Red Cream Lipstick, I jumped in the car and headed home to assemble the whole outfit! It was time for my big night out!!
Part 2 will be up tomorrow my friends. Right now, my ‘new blog addled’ head needs sleep!
