Baukjen is one of those brands whose catalogue has me marking pages as soon as it comes in the door and this autumn winter’s one was no different. If you’ve never heard of Baukjen, it’s the sister brand of maternity label Isabella Oliver….the site that manages to make me broody with just one glance. Tiny sweet smelling newborns? Pregnant women? Cute little pudgy toddlers? No – I only ever consider baby number 4 when I look at the IO website
But back to Baukjen - it was set up by the founder and Creative Director of IO, Baukjen de Swaan Arons in 2009. Baukjen is focussed on everyday, easy to wear essentials and it’s all about quality – not throwaway fashion but instead classic items that will stand the test of time.
Now I’ll be honest and say that Baukjen is on the higher end of my budget and up to now, I’ve only purchased in the sale so it was an amazing treat to be invited by the team there to chose one classic piece from the current collection. I chose the Boyfriend Jean (currently on 15% off with the code LTH94)
With my other boyfriend jeans, I’ve sized down to a 10 because that’s what everyone tells you to do as this style comes up big. But I’ve realised that this kind of defeats the purpose of a boyfriend fit…they should be baggier than a skinny or slim jean – they’re supposed to look like your boyfriend’s jeans! So I went for a 12 in these and I’m loving the looser, more laid back fit. If you prefer yours neater fitting, then you might want to size down. Colour-wise, they’re exquisite – the perfect shade of blue in my opinion.
I’ve worn them a few times since they arrived – I never feature anything gifted here on the blog unless it’s passed the three outfit test. Here’s one of the days I wore them this week…keeping it simple with pointed flats (SS14 – this season’s version on the link) and a navy cotton lace top from Boden and a navy statement necklace from the shop to brighten it all up a bit…
And I also wore them over the weekend for a final trip to the park before school started with my River Island skaters and a grey Primark t-shirt.
Prepare to see them feature lots in coming weeks – they look great with ankle boots too. As for my other picks from Baukjen’s AW14 range? This season it’s all about the poncho/asymmetric knit and this berry coloured option is perfect:
The Callington Draped Poncho
The Anston Tailored Trouser – search no more for the perfect black trouser
This Felsted Print Shirt was on my shortlist – such a great print & also currently with 15% off using code LTH94
and finally, if you’re lucky, they still have these Ash Jalouse boots in metallic left in a few sizes with 50% off! Sadly not in my size
I feel an ankle boot post coming on – tried on quite a few in recent days…watch this space! In the meantime, thank you to Baukjen for filling that Boyfriend Jean gap in my wardrobe.

Yes please to the ankle boot post……I’ve been looking but I’m lacking inspiration!!
Love the simple laid back look with the grey tee & skater shoes Avril. Still I haven’t found a pair I think suit me…..

Ooohhh, these look fab! They are a gorgeous shade of blue! I never shop there as it’s also a bit too pricy for me but some gorgeous picks here. Lynne x

They look great – I saw the pic of you in the park on Instagram (I think!) and admired the jeans then too. I’ve never purchased from Baukjen – maybe this year? I’m always a little nervous when I haven’t had a chance to try/touch the clothes first, especially as it’s so rare in Dublin to get free returns anywhere!

I replaced my ancient marks and spencer boyfriends yesterday with a pair from Monsoon! Love them! I’m short and so skinny jeans with a longer top just make me look like I have no legs at all!
They are a great fit on you and the colour is spot on. I love the boots too. H xx

They look like just the right amount of slouchiness! I’ve got my eye on a couple of things this season, not sure how long I can hold out!

I love how you’ve styled them with the grey tee and skater shoes. You really can’t go wrong with a pair of boyfriend jeans, and they look so great turned up. Everytime I see someone wearing a pair I always want to put mine straight on, although I feel I’ve worn them so much this summer! x
