Home Made Shorts & The Boden Sale!

I did a scissor job on some old chinos to make today's shorts. The chinos were in my charity bag as they were quite old fashioned wide-fit ones but that made them perfect for home-made shorts! Wore them on a trip to our closest National Trust site - Rowallane in Saintfield. Was amazing there - we practically had the place to ourselves! Love this photo of the kids watching dragonflies at the pond..
And here I am in my cut off chinos....
I don't think I've shown this much bare leg on a blog post to date - thank goodness for Sally Hansen!
Very much practicality over style today with the footwear as we were walking lots through (still muddy) woods and meadows. The blue vest top is an oldie from H&M layered over a Primark white vest.
And that was it - too hot for accessories.

Later today, I was so busy enjoying the tennis that I missed the update from Boden that their sale had started! Luckily, most of the UK had done likewise so I was able to get on 4 hours later and still see lots of stock available. Here's what's on my wish list...
Colour Block Wallet - £14.90
I have this stripy breton in the bright blue so I'm fancying it in the Peach and the Citrus too
Stripy Breton in Peach - £20
This Modern Woven Top is WAY nicer in real life - have seen it at two Boden parties. But I always felt it was overpriced at almost £50 AND it's not woven at all - it's silky in the front and jersey on the back. But it's much more appropriately priced now and I love the mix of colours in it. A great transitional top..
Modern Woven Top in Marine Stripe
I'm not a trainer fan at all but I would be willing to try these out as they are quite neat looking and with their coloured laces, not as obvious as white-laced versions. Worth a punt at just over £20
Spotty Canvas Plimsolls (6 colours)
I love how this jersey blazer has been styled and it's a fantastic option to brighten up a plain outfit without the formality of a structured blazer. A total bargain at just over £30..
Summer Jersey Blazer
Another great half price option here with the Colourpop Bag - the perfect fit it all in bag for a busy mum. It's available in three colours and is priced in the sale now from £24.50
Colourpop Bag in Clementine/Navy
The Boden Skinny Coloured Jeans are all reduced by 40% to £29.40. A great wardrobe staple..

This next top is much nicer in real life ... it was my favourite knitwear item at my party. Lovely in the cream if your colouring suits it. Also fantastic in the classic navy/white
Sparkle Linen Cotton Top
Finally, it's not the last item on my wishlist, it's just that this post has gotten long enough already and I don't want to bore you. But this jersey maxi dress is still a big favourite with me. Only 20% off so still out of my budget but I'm tempted..

So what about you? If you're a Boden fan, what's your pick of the sale and what have you already bought?

    1. You're too kind - they're better at a distance! But I'm not hiding them in my 40's as I did in my 30's and even my 20's .... they're only going downhill from here :) x

    1. Isn't it fab?! Bring it on I say! Thanks for your compliment on the legs but if you'd seen how many photos didn't make the cut, you'd not be as impressed. Very flattering pose - going to use for all my leg outfits! haha! x

    1. Oh you'll have to let me know how the blazer works out - I've heard it's better if you've got a bust...which I don't. So tempted but don't want to have to return.. :(
Lovely to hear from you my friend, hope you're well, Ax

    2. They all arrived today! Earlier than I thought!
The blazer is much nicer than I thought it would be - a forgiving stretch - being blessed of norks myself, I usually find it's a real problem getting jackets to look ok!
The bag's great - pretty big and the detachable body strap is great as I always want to wear bags across my body when out and about.

    1. It's so hard - especially when you've seen the stuff and you know for sure what will be lovely on. I've done so well but the spending ban ends next week and I will not be held responsible for my actions :) x

  9. I know what you mean. I can only wear shorts or skirts these past few days because it's been so warm. Not that I'm complaining cos it's been years since we had proper summer. Thanks for the heads up about the Boden sale. Bummer. They're sold out of the breton top but I managed to nab a few pieces for LL.

  12. Lovely photo of the kids. I've also hidden my legs away since I was a gawky teenager, but I decided a couple of years ago to reveal them to the world but not in their blue/white winter state! I've ordered the stipe blazer and the red drawstring bag which I have high hopes for as I've lusted after it since the beginning of the season!

    1. That drawstring bag is fab. A few people bought it at the party in the red actually. It's lovely - hope you love it too! x

    1. Thanks Claire - my spending ban is struggling. And I won't have a gorgeous new kitchen to make it all worthwhile. Though I will have a bank account in the black. Which is a start :) x

  14. I ended up buying a bunch of things for my girls ... school clothes for the fall when it's still really hot here in the south. The city print dress ended up in our mailbox even though it wasn't on sale. Sometimes that happens when we fall in love with a print.
