Mumnset Blogfest - OOTD

Writing this while still on a high after yesterday and before the utter exhaustion hits me and renders me physically unable to blog! I was so excited to be at Mumsnet Blogfest, not only because I was part of a panel discussing the growth and importance of fashion and beauty blogging but also because I had done my damnedest NOT to be there by missing my flight the day before. Face palm. I'll tell you all about it over a drink sometime..
I'm just going to share my outfit on this post - will share the experience of the day on another post as I have SO many photos and people to mention.

I stayed overnight on Friday with my Aunt who lives within walking distance of the Shard. So I was keen to get my outfit photo with it in the background - slightly hidden with some low cloud.
For Blogfest, I opted for the Gok Wan black peplum dress that I featured on last week's blogpost. This dress was gifted to me recently by the PR company behind the launch of Gok's latest collection. I decided it was the best for all the walking and travelling I had to do on the day and also suited the 40th birthday party that I went to straight after landing in Belfast at 9pm. (Thanks to my sister and brother in law, I was up until 3am partying…which has contributed to my exhaustion greatly)
I can confirm the dress ticked all the boxes. Not only is it super flattering to wear with its built in suck-it-all-in slip, it was dressy enough without being over-dressed and withstood a fair amount of traipsing about on planes, trains and automobiles and still looked fab and appropriate for the party.
My necklace is from New Look and my black shoe boots and sucky in tights (when added to sucky in slip, my mum-tum was going NO-WHERE!) are from M&S. I also wore my Karen Millen mac and carried my Cole Haan pink handbagbetter seen in this photo taken just minutes before I joined the panel. Can you see the panic in my eyes?
Unfortunately, the bag is an old purchase from about 6 years ago in an outlet shop in the US. Those were the days..though it has served me well and still looks as good as new so was well worth the investment.

I'll be back shortly (after sleep) with a report from the day's activities, including some of the best hints and tips I picked up, a shout out to some of the other bloggers I met and a pic of the lovely items from the goody bag - some of which I'll be giving away in a special competition very soon. See you later…zzzzzz
