This year, I'm going for a trendier shape in my warm, waterproof coat. I adore my Target Dry Emily Parka, which I've worn to death all spring and summer but it's time for something cosier for autumn winter, which is why I was delighted to find this new style on the Target Dry website - The Georgia Parka.
Georgia Parka - Target Dry (c/o) Rose Scarf - SGS Shop Boyfriend Jeans - Gap Navy Pumps - Zalando |
As well as being waterproof (5000mmH2O) and windproof, the Georgia Parka is bum-covering, has a hood and a feminine nipped in waist. And parkas are all over the high street this season so it's very much an on-trend shape. But the ones on the high street only look good - they won't keep you as dry as this one!
Unfortunately, the day I received it, the sun was shining and we were sitting at 20 degrees...sods law! But we can all buy with confidence, knowing it will get plenty of wear within weeks.
At £74.95, it's a far better price point than my Merrell and in my opinion, a much younger and more stylish shape. And they're a local company, based here in Belfast! So it's a win/win. And the colour-way is just perfect to fit in with my navy/grey-heavy AW13 wardrobe and some of my new scarves.
Expect to see this coat featured heavily in the coming months. It's also available in a gorgeous shade of pink.
Size-wise, this Georgia Parka is a 10 and I would say they come up big so if you're between sizes, you could size down. I still have plenty of room for a heavier knit underneath.

That's a really nice coat. The colour & shape suits you and styled to perfection with one of your scarves. I look forward to the jeans post.... hope you do indeed come up with the Holy Grail! x
ReplyDeleteDon't get your hopes up Anna - jeans are not an easy one...I'm still working on it for tomorrow ... could take some time! x
DeleteLol bum-covering. I lurk on Mumsnet Style & Beauty as it's such a hoot, some of the women there are so witty. The bum-covering threads make me chuckle so much when they start popping up. I've never considered a bum-covering coat before - is it so that you don't get a cold bottom or to hide it?? This looks fab anyway, so snuggly (nice scarf too, I had a peek in your scarf shop just the other day as Mum loves scarves and I'm starting to think about Christmas)

Haha - yes, that's where the term comes from - good old Mumsnet! The bum covering is all about keeping dry I think....alot of the mountain/outdoors coats only come to the hips and I think that was the frustration. Glad you like the stock I have in the shop - I get so excited ordering it in...looking forward to the ones I get to keep! :) x
DeleteOh love this! It's so slim
ReplyDeleteFitting. Must go and hunt it out. I've been looking for a good warm winter coat.
I love that coat. I am not happy with my Merrell as it doesn't keep me warm
ReplyDeleteOff to check this one out!

It's a really good shape. So many parkas are just so bulky. I'm really looking forward to your post about jeans xxx
ReplyDeleteFab coat Avril & it looks totally gorgeous with your scarf....can't imagine having to wear winter coats at the moment as the weather is so lovely but think that's about to change!!! x
ReplyDeleteLove this! I always think a coat that is nipped in at the waist is so flattering and a hood too leaving hands free for all the stuff you need to carry on the school run . I never can manage an umbrella as well. Great choice.
ReplyDeleteOh I like this and your scarf is a perfect match! Always love your taste in jeans too so am sure you'll have no problem pulling that one together!

Lovely colour.
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely Avril...really liking the fact that it dosen't look at all bulky and yet it would keep you totally warm and dry! Have a good weekend:)
ReplyDelete~Anne xx
You are working that navy there Avril and it looks good.
ReplyDeleteJeans - tricky. I struggle all the time with them. Which probably goes to explain why I have so many as I am always looking for the holy grail pair of jeans. Will be interesting to see which ones you find.
I like this Avril - the nipped in waist is great and bum covering is always an advantage! Won't be long before we all need something like this for the school run. Looking forward to the jeans post xx
ReplyDeleteHi Avril, just wondering if you think it is worth investing in this as I already have the insulated version of the Merrel, however that is far too warm for this time of year. Is the Georgia lighter weight or would I be better off getting the Emily parka for the Autumn? thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny - I think the Emily would be a better option if you're happy with your Merrell. The Merrell is probably a similar weight to this one. I wanted a darker colour which is why I opted for this parka - the navy is a more useful colour with the rest of my wardrobe. The Emily is also generous in fit too so you could layer it for the current weather. Hope that helps! x
DeleteFar more trendy than my michelin man Nike coat for bad weather!!x
ReplyDeleteThanks Avril, I've ordered the Emily which should hopefully keep me dry throughout the Autumn. Just been caught in a torrential down pour so can't wait for it to arrive. It was a good price too, down to £55 in the sale then extra 15% with the code x
ReplyDeleteMeant to ask in previous post...the Heatons jeans are they generous fit or on the small size? Im between a 10 and 12 so don't know whether to size up or down. Thanks! x
