So my three kids are all in big school now.
I survived 9 weeks of summer holidays.
I am happy.
This photo ranks as the one with the most likes on my husband's Facebook profile. He's so proud of me for that...haha. But seriously, it's not just about being able to get some work done of a weekday morning, I'm genuinely happy that my kids are healthy and alive and ready to make the move to the next stage in their lives. My son goes into Primary 6 - an important year as he begins the preparations for his 11+ exam and the girls start Primary 1.
And here they are the little precious things all kitted out for their first day (thanks BHS!)
Immediately after we left them off, I headed to the House of Fraser press launch of their Autumn Winter range (which explains why I'm a bit overdressed for the school run)
Feeling the love for the colours, textures and bling, particularly at Biba and LK Bennett
Mary Portas
The great news is that the Mary Portas range is better priced this year. It's such a great range for taller women so check it out if you haven't already. |
Biba
Biba was sublime. Prices are also keener this year and the textures are amazing. The green patterned jacquard dress (top right) was my favourite item from the whole preview. |
LK Bennett
Linea/Episode
New Brand - LIU JO
Pied A Terre
For me, the most improved brand in House of Fraser over the past couple of years has been Pied A Terre. I adore the grey/blue pattern on the left in particular. |
Amazing Accessories
This was my official outfit photo for the day (a bit more composed than the first one!)
Jacket - Next (current) Top - Warehouse (SS13 - now on sale) Jeans - Maison Scotch (AW12) Ampersand Pendant - Pluck & Devour Wedge Sandals - Clarks (SS12) Tan Shopper - eBay |
Thanks to House of Fraser for inviting me along and for looking after us so well!
Ax
No tissues needed at the school gate for you then! I was the same - although I enjoyed having them home I was ready for the next stage - as were they! My boy has his 11+ in 3 weeks time - gulp. Lovely items here - think my favourite has to be the pied a terre grey collared top. XX
ReplyDeleteOh wow - busy few weeks for you. Hope it all goes well for him. Thanks for dropping by Claire, Ax
DeleteLots of lovely new stuff, it's so great that HoF ship to us poms over in Oz. love those sandals that you're wearing, Clarks is stupidly expensive here!

Oh I didn't know they did - that's great. Such a brilliant range of brands in HOF - my favourite Belfast store! Ax
DeleteLove that first picture Avril...fantastic!!! And some amazing pics of all the new seasons delights from House of Fraser...I keep meaning to check out the Mary Portas collection I must add it to my list! x
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane - you should check out MP - could definitely see you in some of her dresses! Ax
DeleteDefinitely no separation anxiety, lol! Those pics are stunning ... so many gorgeous pieces. I love the Mary Portas range - just wish I was an extra 6 or 7 inches taller so that I could wear them!
ReplyDeleteNot a bit Helen! haha...they are SO ready for going back. And yes - MP is not great on the smaller frame though there was one lovely jersey jacket that would work well I think. Ax
DeleteYou are getting younger looking with every post!! Loving the Mary Portas range:)
ReplyDelete~Anne xx
Oh you're saying all the right things Anne! Thank you! Ax
DeleteHa ha! Your photo made me laugh. My "little boy" has just gone into year 6 too. He took his first 11+ paper on Tuesday and the second is tomorrow. It's a big thing for them isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThe HoF goodies look great. All very exciting!
Love Liz xxx
Gosh, I didn't think you were old enough to have a son in year 6! It's a big year indeed...for them and us! Ax
DeleteThat's a great photo! I love the outfit too...I bet you put a couple of the other mums to shame ;) I spotted the new Biba range in HOF at the weekend and love it! x
ReplyDeleteGreat post!Interesting about the Mary Portas range I'll have to keep an eye out for it. LOVEEE your intro photo! so funny! hahah ..
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Lou xx
House of Fraser looks to have some great stuff this season, particularly liking all the bling! I had a pair of Liu Jo cargo pants about 10 years ago, they were very expensive from a designer store in bluewater so I had heard of that brand before, be interested to see what they do now x
ReplyDeleteLove that print tee shirt Avril...had a look on Warehouses website, they have only sizes 6,14&16 left. I'm normally a 12. Do you reckon the 14 would be massive? Ciara
ReplyDeleteHi Ciara, mine is a 12 and I think it's a bit neat on the hips. More like a 12 elsewhere but if you're a pear shape, a 14 might be ok! There's no stretch in it - it's a cotton material. Hope that helps! xx
DeleteThat picture is funny! X
ReplyDeleteAw how cute are your kiddies, gorgeous!! Aw I'm loving BIBA, I reluctantly walked past it all on my recent trip to HOF. *Tear.
ReplyDeleteYou're looking fabulous as always x
What an amazing selection and I love all the pictures. Especially the first one!!
ReplyDeleteThat first pic is priceless Avril!! Good to see your still showing a bit of foot flesh, although after the awful week we have had I think my sandals will soon be packed away. Love that warehouse top, v unusual! The HOF visit looked great, but it would just make me want everything!! X
ReplyDeleteLovely pic. I remember that feeling so well.
ReplyDeleteYour kids are wee dreamboats Avril!
ReplyDeleteGreat HoF AW round up - I need to get down there fast and check it out. First stop, all those gorgeous accessories!
Nic x
I love that first picture - and am seriously impressed by your school's signage too! Great outfit x
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit! Which eBay shop did you use for the bag?
ReplyDeleteHi Louise - it was years ago so I don't remember and can't find it in my feedback records. It's not a good copy IMO - in fact, after seeing it in these photos, it's going in the charity bag! Sorry I can't help x
Deletehahahaha...!!! The first photo just made me laugh! But seriously, you look great. You should've seen a lot of relieved faces on the parents' faces at the school gate here. It was like whew!!!!
ReplyDeleteI much refer the first photo - and how adorable are your little ones:) Can't wait to see the new Biba range, the prints are always beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLOL best photo EVER!
ReplyDeleteThat photo is fab Avril, sums up what we all feel! So pleased about the price points for some of HoF's line's it's always put me off. Oh and that coat is sold out! I've sent it to a mate who has a sale preview slot just in case it comes back in and goes on sale, I love it. That's the second coat (chunky Boden cardi one) you've tempted me with and I can't have!!!x
