Ahead of a weekend full of birthday celebrations, I've a few photos and a couple of outfits I didn't get a chance to share yet this week on the blog.
First up was Tuesday at the charity shop. It's always cold there so I wore an outfit of layers with Uniqlo thermals and a cosy scarf (and the marmite specs!)
Long Line Cardigan - House of Fraser (old, similar here) Wrap Belt - Benetton (similar here)Cream Top - Uniqlo Heattech Scarf - Marks & SpencerIndigo Skinny Jeans - HeatonsAnkle Boots - Mango (similar here) |
Wednesday, I headed to The Fat Gherkin in Moira with the kids and a favourite purple outfit of Kalico jersey cardigan, Uniqlo Heattech top and Orla Kiely scarf got an airing (last seen here).
Always love this print in The Fat Gherkin so had to instagram it...
Also this week, my fugly snow boots arrived. I've hankered after a pair of bad weather boots to replace my wellies, which I love but which aren't warm enough. Fiona from Avenue 57 tipped me off to these Land's End boots for just £24.95 with 20% off that day, bringing them in at just £20. A bargain and I've worn them already and can vouch for their warmth. A purely practical addition to the wardrobe and one I've been glad of this baltic week.
Also purchased this week was this fabulous necklace from Next - just £10! It's called Red & Gold on the website but it is definitely Red & Silver.
It's going to work well with my monochrome dress from Warehouse (last seen here) that gets another outing this weekend for my mother's 80th birthday. And here's the cake...
It's one I made back in October along with my Christmas cakes, knowing my mum's big day was coming up. I decorated it this week with home made marzipan under ready rolled white icing, gold lustre, gold ribbon and some cute champagne bottle candles & no mention of age. I do hope she likes it.
And as soon as one birthday party ends, another begins as my 9 year old celebrates his 'official birthday' with his friends on Sunday. His Easter 'actual' birthday meant that lots of his friends weren't around for a party so we moved it out to this weekend. So I'll probably not get blogging between now and Monday but I'll be instagramming and tweeting - the links are at the top of this page if you want to keep in touch.
Have a great weekend!

DeleteBeautiful cake Avril. Hope all the birthday celebrations go well. I think I really missed a trick with that Uniqlo heattech, my M&S vests just don't seem to be cutting it at the moment. May have to give them a go (after the shopping ban obviously....!) x
