Belfast Fashion Week Opening Night - Leopard Print Style!

Inspired by the specs you all preferred on my post yesterday, I headed into the opening night of West Coast Cooler Belfast Fashion Week all leoparded up. My sister will NOT like this - I know! This opening show showcased the SS13 George at Asda range. I was very impressed by what I saw on the catwalk and now need to pay Asda a visit. Photos to come but firstly - here's my homage to Bet Lynch.. (in fact, I seem to be channeling more than one Coronation St. character this week judging by the comments!)

In absolute love with two aspects of this outfit in particular. My bargainous leopard heels from M&S and my lace/pearl top from Room 31.
Boyfriend Jeans - Gap
Mid-Heel Leopard Pumps - M&S (currently reduced!)
Black Blazer - ASOS
Cream Lace & Pearl Detail Top - Yumi @ Room31
Scarf - eBay
And here's the top on it's own..so flattering. Not too clingy with lovely pleating detail down the front. 25% off if you use SGS25 at the checkout too! Note that I sized up to a 12 in this top. Yumi tends to come up a bit small. Or else I'm in denial about being a 10 on top!
But onto the catwalk fashion...this year's BFW shows are being held in the Ulster Museum - an amazing setting. This is what greeted us as we took our seats..
Cute Floating Puppies
Once the show began, it was outfit after outfit of affordable, wearable (in better weather) options from George at Asda with no single item costing more than £22.

It really is a super wee collection - neons, florals, monochrome, boucle - they're all there at perfect prices for the stylish yet budget conscious woman. I promise to pay Asda a visit in the next couple of weeks to try some of it on for you. In the meantime, you can check out what's available in your local Asda or online at Asda.com (some items yet to arrive - do sign up to their email alert to find out when the high summer collection becomes available)
Meanwhile, the show goes on at the Ulster Museum tonight and tomorrow night with lots more designer and high street fashion to check out. If you're lucky enough to have a ticket for either of these sold out shows, enjoy and keep warm and safe en route!

    1. Only one of my 2 sisters - she just hates leopard print and I think I've always been reluctant to wear because of that!
That first George dress was my absolute favourite too! It's part of the high summer range so isn't in stores yet. I'll keep an eye out and let you know. Ax

  3. Looking lovely Avril... I think I have the same shoes as you! Are the heels black patent, with a slight platform?

    1. There are two pairs very similar Nic - Mine are a black matt heel with no platform. I tried yours on also and was torn as both were v comfy. The lower heel on mine sold it to me in the end. Sorry you couldn't be there last night. Hope to see you soon, Ax

    2. Ah if I'd spotted a lower heel I'd have done the same! ;)

  8. The shoes are great Avril, great wee bargain. Those boyfriend jeans are amazing on you I can't believe you nearly didn't embrace the trend. Some gorgeous pieces there, hard to believe they're Asda really. The show looked great, hope the weather dies down so I can get!

  9. I want that scarf Avril! Was it a 2nd hand one on eBay or a new one from one of their shops? x

    1. Hey Natalie, my scarf is the infamous Mumsnet one! Can't find the buyer I got it from (as the quality does vary between sellers). If you search for Celebrity Leopard on eBay, you'll find loads. Check the feedback and go with an UK seller. Ax

I am really pleased with both of them - the shoes are so comfy, I bought the nude pair too ;) the top arrived today from Room 31, packaged so Lovely and I LOVE the top! It looks like it should cost so much more I'm sure I will get a lot of wear out of it. Thanks again for helping us to look good on a budget :) x

  11. Love your outfit Avril - those shoes look fab - but weren't your feet freezing - I can't even think about any outfit without socks and boots at the moment! That first George dress is so cute - there is an enormous Asda superstore near where I work - will have to pay a visit! x

  12. I love your blog Avril, having come to it only last month. Its now daily reading for me!! I think I've developed a scarf addiction in the past month as a result!! I also love that Yumi top so much that I've gone and bought it tonight, and thanks for the tip on sizing up, as I'm normally a standard 10 in tops. We're not having the awful weather you're having up North, but still miserable and freezing down South! Stay warm! Claire

    1. Thank you Claire for your lovely comment! So glad you enjoy the blog. Oh yes...the scarf addiction thing...I'm sorry about that! I need to design a storage mechanism for all my addicted followers! They are pouring out of my wardrobe. Just off the phone with my mum in Tipp and she was telling me there's no snow there. We're having a real white out tonight. Glad to be indoors with electricity. Keep in touch Claire- hope you love the top! A x

Leopard print really suits you. Can I ask you which type of wash your gap jeans are as I love them.

    1. Hiya Kitty! Hope you're well. Thank you for your lovely comment. My jeans were actually in the sale and are only left in teeny tiny sizes now. This is the actual link (you'll need to cut and paste) http://www.gap.eu/browse/product.do?cid=60766&vid=1&pid=000243476000

I liked that they weren't too baggy around the ankles. Makes them a bit neater. Oh and no big rips either - not a fan of those! Not sure what the current Gap ones are like. Have read mixed reviews. Think it depends on body shape/height.

Have a great weekend, Avril x

    1. I go out like that all the time in the evening - it works for me as I don't really like wearing statement jewellery that much so a scarf is a nice alternative for me. Keeps me warm too.

    2. Luckily here in Belfast, you can really wear whatever you like going out. There was a great mix of super dressed up, casual and all the rest in-between. I have had a few very dressed up nights lately so fancied a less formal outfit, especially as there was snow forecast and I may have had to walk some of the way home! Wellies & my Merrell were in the boot of the car - lol! Ax

  17. Aren't those boyfriend jeans just divine on you? Bet you're wondering how you managed without them? Well possibly not seeing as how the weather is pants and we are all in boot tucking skinny jeans. But the whole looks if just lovely. And nice shoes - everything turned out well!
