But today I bought a pair of Loyal jeans from H&M and I'm officially in love with bootcuts again! I'd previously bought these in a shorter leg length (last see here) to wear with pumps and converse and when I saw how nice they fitted, I was straight back to get a longer pair to wear with heels.
No face in the photos today. My 3 yo photographic prodigy managed to whack her head off the coffee table and is sporting an egg sized purple bump on the head. I thought it might be a bit mean to make her take the photos after all that trauma and after ageing a few years from the trauma myself, I'll spare you the face shots!

Back to the jeans and the all important rise - the distance between the crotch & the waistband. I've a long torso and these jeans come almost to my belly button (as indicated by my finger in the photo), thereby reducing significantly the chance of builder's bottom or muffin top overflow. Yet another reason to love them :)
So I'll be wearing a bit more bootcut these coming weeks but how annoying to still be wearing dark blue jeans! I thought in July I'd be wearing maxi dresses/shorts/white skinnies and slapping on the SPF..sigh
But to cheer you up (if you're a UK size 6/7), I'm giving away some LK Bennett super summery shoes, courtesy of The Outlet in Banbridge. Click on over girls to be in with a chance to win! x
I'm currently in skinny mode and not brave enough to try boot cuts yet. They look great on you though!

Go on Rebecca - it makes a nice change!! Enjoyed reading your blog today, thanks for dropping by mine, Avril x
DeleteI used to love Gap's curvy jeans, then Gap's Long and Lean before I moved onto the straight legged "Martha" from Top Shop. Just when I found my favourite jeans they stopped making them. Back tot he drawing board. Those jeans look a great fit on you.
ReplyDeleteThank you - I do normally struggle with boot cuts so it was a surprise to get such a great fit from an inexpensive brand! You should try them - but not until August :) Avril x
DeleteI adore my Next bootcuts which I seem to be reaching for a lot on these damp dreary days!I love your sequin top:)
ReplyDelete~Anne xx
Thanks Anne...all those summer clothes are not getting much of an airing these days :( Avril x
DeleteI will have to try these. Used to love bootcuts but find they make my thighs look huge these says!
ReplyDeleteI think it's about getting the right fit for sure - you need them to slim down to the knees, before kicking out. Otherwise it makes your whole leg look big. Let me know if you find these good for you too! Thanks for your comment, Avril x
DeleteI love bootcut jeans as I am big on top and having the boot cut leg evens the shape out.
ReplyDeleteThey are perfect for that - and for pear shapes too as the boot cut evens out the hips too. Glad you enjoyed the post, thanks for your comment! Avril x
DeleteWell A you know that, like you I'm a late starter with skinny jeans, and have mourned my Gap sexy boot cuts for a while. For me a straight cut (next) is a good in between but this Autunm I shall dig out my boot cuts (or try the gorgeous ones fron Hudson Anne linked to) and be tall again with my heeled boots. So much more flattering than skinnies.
ReplyDeleteCH
They really suit you too - not all petite people do suit them but you definitely do. xx
DeleteBootcut always get my vote as the most flattering style for anyone with less than skinny legs. Just invested in a pair of Isabella Oliver maternity bootcuts in the sale, and they definitely balance out my bump and spreading behind much better than skinnies. X
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great investment! You need to spoil yourself at the moment...love IO - they make the best maternity wear, Avril x
DeleteI don't own any bootcut jeans but these look good and the rise will do wonders for my middle aged spread!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharron. But don't you be talking about middle aged spread - you look fab just like your blog name. And you're not middle aged yet - at least 10 years to go! xx
DeleteI'm going to have to stop looking at this blog as I now want those jeans too. Luckily I've already got that top as it was a bargain price a few weeks ago at our h&m. It's a good job I don't live near you as managed to get your primark top too reduced to £5 (the metallic mint one). Stop buying such nice clothes and I will be safe ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny....maybe we'll meet some day in an airport, dressed identically!! lol. Trying not to buy anything in July so that might help a little bit. Can't guarantee I'll stick to it tho! lol x
DeleteI could actually kiss you, at 5ft 10 I struggle so much with jeans and the dreaded waistband rise, hate tugging them up or builder's bum just because I have a long torso, thanks for mentioning this, and how fab value they are, will be popping in h&m on my next spree x
ReplyDeleteI hope you find them as good as I do. I wore them all day today and they were just so comfy. No hoiking up or tucking in my top. Happy days! x
DeleteLove the jeans. If you are looking for ideas for a post can you please do one on how to accessorise a black dress.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks
C
Great idea - have made a note of it and will definitely add it to the Aug/Sept list. Thanks for your comment, Avril x
