Pre-Birthday Shopping

My birthday money burns a hole in my pocket - I even went shopping a day early just to be sure I'd have it spent before the weekend is out! I decided to wear my Room 31 peter pan collar dress as it was such a lovely day..
We headed to House of Fraser's brand event where I once again lusted over the LK Bennett Annina bag I saw at the Outlet the other day.
Picked up a little dress there and then to H&M where I got a neutral coloured blazer and flowery top (the one I mentioned on Facebook last night - lol). Thanks to my sister for these purchases :)
Browsing in Mango @ House of Fraser
Here's a close up of the handbag I was wearing. Got this in DKNY in London when I was pregnant with the twins. It's only recently that I've mostly ditched the cross body bags so essential when you've two kids to hold onto or a double buggy to push. I'm enjoying re-discovering some of my shoulder bags from when I worked!
The Continental Market is at Belfast City Hall this weekend so we stopped briefly to have a look and also to check out the Titanic Memorial & Gardens, which have been spruced up this year for the centenary to include a new memorial added which lists all the names of those who were on board the ship.

A lovely hour at the shops and strolling around City Hall. Everything looks so much better in the sun, doesn't it? I hope that no matter what you have planned this weekend, you've got your camera with you and are taking pictures. I want all your Jubilee style for my special 'Styled By You - Jubilee' post next week. With everyone who sends a picture entered into a draw! Some great ones in already - thank you! Email to [email protected]
To give you inspiration, here's my gorgeous boy all dressed up for his school Jubilee Tea Party. The instructions were to dress up as if for a wedding - doesn't he look smart?

  1. Love the dress, very tempted to pick one up myself!
What's the continental market like, is it the same as the Christmas one? I literally live across the road from it, in Chichester Street, yet due to working stupid hours have yet to venture over to it! x

    1. Hi Catherine, we just had a quick look and it was pretty much along the lines of the Christmas one. Going to get in on Monday for a proper look with the kids. Hopefully you'll get a chance over the long weekend yourself. The dress is brill - can totally recommend it. Such a good price too! Thanks for getting in touch Avrilx

  5. I really like that top you are wearing in the first picture (and this coming from someone who can't wear that kind of top at all). It looks comfy and something you can wear a lot of different ways. Hope you have a great birthday!

  6. My son had to wear red, white and blue for his Jubilee party so I had to make a mad dash to buy something! I had a cheeky HOF order from their brand event, can't wait for it all to come!

    1. Thanks Ruth - I trimmed off the ruffle underneath - did you notice? It helped to make it more tunic like - with the ruffle, it needed to be worn as a dress. I'm going to get so much wear from it - perfect for this weather and also looking forward to wearing it in winter time with black tights xx

  9. Hi
Do you remember if Lk Bennett were included in the brand event and if so what the discount was? I think there's another brand event next weekend
    Thanks Debbie

    1. Hi Debbie, from what I remember, it was but it was a limited selection of stock. I don't remember the discounts…variable I think. 20-40%. Sorry not much more help here. Perhaps worth phoning the store closer to the weekend? Avril x

  10. Best of lot of cash on your shopping ban! I've had such problems with those because I always seem to discover the most exciting factors when I can't buy them!
