Belfast-based, clothes-loving, shopping-obsessed, mum of 3. Wearable fashion on a budget for busy women

Let's pretend that it's springtime!

Firstly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sister Siobhan...my fashion inspiration from an early age and another champion shopper and bargain finder. Wish we lived closer to each other though our husbands are probably glad we don't! Have a great day sis!
Meanwhile, as the gales blew and the rain chucked it down, I took out a couple of summer purchases that I have been gazing at and wondering if I'll ever get to wear.
The first is this flowery top from Great Plains - officially called the Macciato Dancing Lupins Print Top. I got it in the French Connection shop in Belfast but you can also see it online here (but for some reason, not on the Great Plains website)
Wearing with my Tesco coloured jeans and my second summer purchase - these suede sandals from TK Maxx...

The price sticker is still on the sole! I bought them 6 weeks ago in the Boucher Road store for £19.99 and they've never seen the light of day <sob>. BUT...whenever the weather does warm up, these are going to look great with skinny jeans, cropped trousers and wide leg linen trousers and this neutral colour will tone in well with most of my wardrobe.
So I sashayed around my bedroom in my summer outfit and dreamt of sunny days..
Tried a couple of different necklaces with this top to see which one worked best. On the left, it's my Primark bargain (£4-in stores right now - thanks to Lucy @ Suburban Style!), which I like because it's a bit edgier than the one on the right (a Christmas present from my 8 year old). I love how a necklace finishes off an outfit. Which do you prefer?

Off now to prepare for my Clothes Swap/Swishing Party tonight. I've got 14 friends coming with the clothes and accessories they no longer wear and I'm hoping we all find something lovely to swap them for. I'll share how the night went on tomorrow's blog!

In the meantime, don't forget to enter my competition to win some gorgeous Leighton Denny nail products - remember, a home manicure is a great way to spend a rainy night in!

  1. Love this top - you look lovely in these pics :)

Both necklaces are good with it - maybe the beads for day & the statement one with heels to dress it up a bit more for evening? I love those kinds of necklaces but think they'd get on my nerves if I wore them all day? (clearly showing my age!!) ;-)

  2. Love the top - prefer the beads with it but that's probably as I've never been a fan of chunky jewellery.
Good luck with the party - look forward to reading about what you swap!
